Day 1 long vacation safaris in Uganda: Arrive Entebbe International airport.
Meet and greet with our representative from Ayinza safaris and Tours Ltd before departing to hotel for overnight at either Cassia lodge in Kampala or Booma guest house in Entebbe (up market and mid-budget respectively) with B&B; and Red chili Hideaway Kampala (budget) bed only.
Day 2 long vacation safaris in Uganda: Kampala- Murchison Falls
We begin our Long Vacation Uganda Safaris with drive to north-west through the famous Luwero Triangle and, travel to Masindi via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary (best for white rhino tracking). A visit to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a Rhino trekking tour is highly recommended. After lunch, we drive to Murchison at the spectacularly situated site at the top of the fall where you can see the Nile’s beauty perfected!! Day 3 long vacation safaris in Uganda: wildlife adventure- Murchison Falls NP
Your day begins early, full of adventure. Your guide will help you spot Elephant, Lion, Cape buffalo, Rothschild giraffe, hartebeest, Water-buck, Oribi, Bush buck, Bohor reed-buck, hyena and if you are lucky, the leopard. Return to the hotel for breakfast and lunch. After lunch, go for a boat safari upstream the calm Victoria Nile to the base of the falls stopping just tens of meters from the “Devils Cauldron”.
En-route, marvel at the toothsome hippos, crocodiles and over this 17 km stretch you may see elephant, water-buck and Uganda Kob crocodile. This is also a zone of many bird species like Goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, horn-bill, cormorant and the rare shoe-bill stork. There you leave the boat and start your – quite heavy – hike to the Top of the Falls (approx. 1 hour).
See where the world’s longest river explodes violently through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley escarpment to plunge into a frothing pool 43m below. Your driver/guide will be waiting for you to bring you back to the lodge. We take a full day drive south via Hoima to Fort Portal through verdant countryside and past traditional homesteads and tea farms along the Albertine Rift escarpments. The western town of Fort-Portal rests in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon. Day 5 long vacation safaris in Uganda: Kibale Chimpanzee Trekking -Queen Elizabeth National
Wake up for an early morning safari trek for chimpanzees. Kibale is the best reserve in Africa for chimpanzee trekking and primate safaris, a thick jungle with a towering canopy. In the afternoon head for the Queen Elizabeth National Park, sightseeing and game viewing along the way. Begin your day of the Uganda safari with a cup of coffee. Early morning game drive along Kasenyi and Queens Mile makes visitors encounter elephants, buffalo, water bucks, warthogs, lions, Uganda Kobs, lakes and a variety of birds. Return to the lodge for breakfast and lunch. After lunch a two hour boat trip along the famous Kazinga channel is a worthwhile opportunity to see Hippo, Buffalo, Kobs, Elephants, warthogs etc. This trip also enables visitors a chance to see spectacular birds (best wildlife tour). Day 7 long vacation safaris in Uganda: Queen Elizabeth NP-Bwindi
Get an early breakfast ready for a guided Chimpanzee trekking/primate walking safari along Kyambura Gorge to look for habituated chimps through the gorge. After primate safari walk, proceed to Ishasha. You will drive along the deep and wide dry craters that are occupied by savanna grasslands and acacia. The drive takes you through the unique western rift valley escarpment and the (southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park) Ishasha sector where you will take on yet another game drive in search of tree climbing lions before proceeding to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
The journey takes about 4 hours but driving through interesting features, arriving in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the evening. This park is home to the rare mountain gorillas. Apart from gorillas, there are a wide variety of primates to see including the blue and red tailed monkeys. The forest itself is lush and green and there are streams running through it. Have Dinner and overnight stay at either Bwindi lodge / Silver-back lodge (up market and mid-range) or Buhoma Community Rest Camp (Budget) for dinner and overnight, Meal (breakfast, lunch and dinner).
Day 8 long vacation safaris in Uganda: Adventure Gorilla tracking
After an early breakfast, the driver drops you at the Uganda wild life office for briefing and starting point with guides to track the gorillas (mountain gorilla trekking). The thrill of your encounter will erase the difficulties of the potentially strenuous trek. Bring jungle boots and rain jackets because the park is often wet. Spend time in awe watching the gorillas; as they go about their activities. Each gorilla safari encounter is different and has its own rewards, but you are likely to enjoy the close view of adults feeding, grooming and resting as the youngsters frolic and swing from vines in a delightfully playful display. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a magnificent green swathe of dense rainforest, so ancient that survived the last ice age and suitable for the gorilla trekking safari/tracking safari.
A recently proclaimed World Heritage site, it’s one of the most biologically diverse areas on earth and its unique, precious flora sustains roughly half of the world population of mountain gorillas( perfect for a Gorilla trekking safari); believed to number just 720 in the whole world. There’s also a substantial chimpanzee population and research shows that Bwindi is the only forest in Africa in which these two apes live together (best place for a chimpanzee trekking safari). Time permitting, spend the afternoon on a community walking safari to explore the life style of the indigenous people living around the forest called “the Batwa/Pygmies.” Dinner and overnight stay at either Bwindi lodge/Silverback lodge (up market and midrange) or Buhoma Community Rest Camp (Budget) for dinner and overnight. Day 9 long vacation safaris in Uganda: Bwindi –Kampala
Kampala is our next destination on this day. Along the way to Kampala, we make a stopover visit to Igongo Cultural village in Mbarara to explore and learn the Bahima and Ankole culture. This is the place where the future meets the past. Thereafter continue your drive to the Equator crossing with your lunch en-route before you drive back to Kampala. Spend your night at Kampala Serena hotel (Up-market), Cassia lodge (mid-range) with bed and breakfast; and Red Chili Hideaway for bed only (budget).
Day 10 long vacation safaris in Uganda: Kampala-Jinja Rafting
After your breakfast, our driver guide will pick you from your hotel, ready for a drive to Jinja the great adventure of the capital, arriving in time for rafting briefing, here you choose to raft in the paddle-powered boats for one of the wildest raft rides on the planet, or opt to be rowed downstream by our professional guides in the safety raft. After a buffet lunch you will hit a series of more wild rapids and wind the evening with BBQ snacks after rafting. Day 11 long vacation safaris in Uganda: Jinja Entebbe out
Last day of your African adventure/Uganda safari, depending on your flight time you can choose to explore Jinja with a visit to the source of the Nile. Thereafter drive back to Kampala, then Entebbe International Airport to catch up your flight back home. End of Service Meal Plan: breakfast and lunch. End of your safari.
